Flip a Coin

Ready

Heads 0 · Tails 0

Flip a coin online when you need a quick heads-or-tails result for a game or a low-stakes choice. Tap the coin to flip it, then review the result. If the page provides session counts or streaks, use them to keep track of repeated flips; they do not predict the next result.

The coin

A fair coin has two sides, commonly called heads and tails. If both outcomes have equal probability, each has a 50% chance on a single flip. A virtual coin flip recreates the decision format digitally; the animation is visual presentation, not proof of the underlying random method.

Best of 3, 5, or 10

A best-of format counts repeated flips until one side reaches the target. In best of 3, the first side to reach two wins; in best of 5, the target is three; in best of 10, the target is six. These formats are useful for friendly games, but they do not make an important decision more objective.

Fairness and streaks

A sequence can contain several heads or tails in a row even when each flip is fair. If flips are independent, previous outcomes do not make the opposite side more likely on the next flip. Do not use a coin flip for decisions involving safety, health, finances, consent, or legal obligations.

Frequently asked questions

Is the coin flip really 50/50?

It is 50/50 if the implemented selection method gives heads and tails equal probability. A coin animation alone cannot establish that; consult the tool's documented behavior if fairness needs to be demonstrated.

Can I flip multiple times automatically?

Use an automatic-flip control only if it is present in the current interface. Otherwise, flip manually and record each result. Check the rules for whether each flip is independent.

Can I change heads and tails to my own labels?

Custom labels are useful for two-option choices when the editor supports them. Replace heads and tails with the two options, then check the labels before flipping so the result is unambiguous.
